What is to come of 2010?

2010 could be a pretty raaaaaad year for music. I say this every year and ultimately by New Years Eve I'm disappointed my the lacklustre releases of that year.....or perhaps its just that NYE is generally the Zenith of Disappointment.....I d'noooooooooo, anyway this is what I'm looking forward to:

Xiu Xiu- Dear God I Hate Myself

Xiu Xiu are a band that can do no wrong in my eyes, so this should be a continuation of the self-deprecating lo-fi noise that we have come to expect from Jamie Stewart. AND they are playing in Sheffield in February......

Four Tet- There is Love in You

Another of one of my favourite acts, so I'm am very excited about this one especially after the Love Cry single, and his work with Burial recently. All signs are pointing to this being a frickin' awesome Four Tet release, and will position himself again at the top of current crop of Electronic music.

Liars- Sisterworld

Liars are a band I want to love. I really should like them, they do all that I like in music, they tick all the boxes!!! But why am I always disappointed? And left feeling slightly empty? Maybe thats the point, I don't know.....anyway, perhaps this album will ignite my passions, I'm excited to hear it anyways.

Madvillain- Madvillainy II

This may never happen, but apparently it is, so HURRAH. The first Madvillainy was perhaps one of the greatest hip-hop records, and definitely one of my favourite records of ALL TIME, yes thats hyperbole for you. But it was amazing, so this has a lot to live up to, but I trust the DOOM and Madlib combo with all my little heart.

Flying Lotus- ?

This is just a rumour, but if it is more than a rumour then I'm going to shit my pants. One of my favourite artists of the last few years, so I'm excited to hear some new material. Please Mr Lotus?

Battles- ?

2007's Mirrored was again one of my favourite records for a very very long time, so anticipation is again at an all time high, and I am very excited to see where these guys go next. I've heard them described as future-funk, math-hop, whatever the hell it is- I LIKE IT.

65daysofstatic- ?

New material by these guys is always a source of excitement for me, so the huge void of new material in the last few years, mean I'm literally wetting myself. With rumours from live performances, that they are going in a more electronicy/IDM/minimal techno route, has added to the wetness of my pants. AND they are gracing Sheffield next May. BOOM.

Beach House- Teen Dream

I'm an absolute sucker for this band, I literally love the pants off them. New single 'Norway' is fucking amazing, fact, so I'm having sleepless nights in anticipation of this. Swoon.

Other stuff that is apparently coming out is also exciting- the Esben and the Witch debut, fingers crossed for a new Joanna Newsom album, fingers doubley crossed for a new Panda Bear album, and the new Final Fantasy album should be exciting. New stuff from Yeasayer, Pantha Du Prince, Rolo Tomassi and Massive Attack is also quite exciting. And this is a plea to Menomena, another of one of my favourite bands of the last few years, MAKE A NEW ALBUM NOW PLEASE. Oh, and, Interpol......

So yeah 2010 could be quite special, or consequently absolutely crap. I'm itching to find out.
